Always Show Kindness

One of the best ways that we can go about increasing our Spiritual and Social Wellness is to do something nice for someone else.  This also applies to doing something good for our animal brothers and sisters.  I read a short article in the January 2017 edition of Natural Awakenings, about a group of monks that freed live lobsters.  I couldn’t help but share this, as it made me reflect on the importance of offering the same level of compassion to all living things, not just our fellow man.
A group from the Great Enlightenment Buddhist Institute Society that live on Prince Edward’s Island in Canada, set about recently to buy as many lobsters as they could find at a local fish market.  They then chartered a boat, took the lobster out into the Atlantic Ocean, and freed the fortunate little guys and gals.  It was reported that they offered up a brief prayer before carrying out the act of kindness.  One of the monks, Victoria Fun, stated after the event that “It’s rethinking the way you normally see these creatures.  Their happiness is as important as your happiness, their suffering is as important as your suffering.”
Now I’m not saying you have to go out and free lobster, but certainly doing kind things for our animal friends and family can go a long way in making us into a better version of ourselves.  In order to create the Wellness Revolution, we must begin to see things much differently than our current mindset in modern society.  Let’s take the lead in creating a much healthier, and happier, world for everyone.  Always show compassion, and never be afraid of demonstrating love for all living things. Doing this on a regular basis is a solid approach to building upon Spiritual Wellness.

In Wellness and Love,

Dr. Chris
